Miramar Upgrades Software Deploymen Tool
Santa Barbara-based Miramar Systems (www.miramar.com) has upgraded its Desktop DNA software migration tool. The company's new 4.7 Desktop DNA Professional tool provides USB 2.0 compatibility, Office 2003, and performance enhancements. Miramar's product allows users to easily migrate a PC's system and application files and more to new machines.

Ixia Doubles Module Capacity
Calabasas-based Ixia (www.ixiacom.com) has introduced a new Dual-PHY module for its Optixia testing platform. The new module, used to connect the testing platform to a network, allows their users to support both copper and fiber-optic interfaces on a single module. The support reduces the cost and difficulty of connecting 10/100/1000 Ethernet and fiber optic connections to their product.

J2 Global Thrives, and Turns A Profit
Los Angeles-based J2 Global (founded as JFax), which went public during the dot com boom, appeared to be going the way of many other dot coms, and narrowly avoided being delisted--has been turning profits for the past seven quarters, $100M in revenue, and healthy quarter-to-quarter sales growth.

San Diego-based Hyalozyme Therapeutics has raised a third round of funding from Grove Capital, Cimmaron Biomedical Investors, Richie Capital, and Colt Ventures. Hyalozyme is developing recombinant therapeutic enzymes.

LightPointe Raises $17M
San Diego-based LightPointe (www.lightpointe.com) has raised $17M in Series D funding, including a $2M investment by Huawei Technologies. LightPointe supplies free-space-optics to Hauwei, used to expand wireless networks over campus distances.
