UCLA Spinout Finds Series A
Los Angeles-based ORFID Corp ( announced that it has received an undisclosed amount of funding from Precision Dynamics and Convergent Ventures. The UCLA spinout is developing organic electronics based on conductive polymers, based on technology from UCLA's School of Engineering and Applied Science. Dr. Jonathan Lasch of Convergent will serve as chair and CEO of the new company.

Boingo Bounces Into France
Santa Monica-based Boingo Wireless ( has signed a roaming agreement with Visacom, a French wireless ISP provider. The agreement will extend Boingo's network into over 30 French locations, including a number of hotels and resorts. Boingo has been aggressively signing up ISPs and carriers to provide ultra high speed wireless Internet connectivity.
