Carlsbad-based Invitrogen (www.invitrogen.com) has added Michael Stapleton, Ph.D. as GM and VP of its bioinformatics business, and Vivien Bonazzi, Ph.D. as director of research and development. Stapleston was most recently at Accelrys, and Bonazzi was most recently at Celera Genomics.

InfoGenesis Inks Mirage

Preventsys Adds $3M
Carlsbad-based Preventsys (www.preventsys.com) has added a second closing to its Series B with an investment by UV Partners. Preventsys is developing network security audit and policy assurance systems. The company has also appointed Tom Rowley as CEO of the company. Rowley joins from Counterpane Internet Security.
