Hamilton Apex Founder Creates Tech Fund
Paul J. Bouchard, one of the founding partners of Hamilton Apex Ventures, has formed a new fund, Hamilton Tech Capital Partners LP to focus on wireless services and infrastructure, IT, and semiconductors. The fund's target size is $150M.

Santarus Raises $54M in IPO
San Diego-based Santarus has raised $54M in an IPO on the Nasdaq. The lead underwriters were SG Cowen and UBS Securities, with co-managers Thomas Weisel Partners and RBC Capital Markets. Santarus develops products for the treatment of gastrointestinal diseases and disorders. The company was backed by Hamilton Apex, New England Partners, Life Sciences Partners, China Development Industrial Bank, and others.

Gateway Shutters Stores, Axes Workforce

IBM Buys Candle Corp
IBM announced yesterday that it has agreed to purchase El Segundo-based Candle Corp. to Candle provides enterprise infrastructure management tools. The move is expected to bolster IBM's middleware solutions. Terms were not disclosed.
