RackSaver, MPI Software CombineSan Diego-based RackSaver, a provider of blade computing systems announced that it is acquiring MPI Software, a provider of cluster computing software packages and renaming the company to Verari Systems (www.verari.com). The two companies will combine Verari's blade computing systems with MPI's software for managing and controlling clustered computers.

Broadcom Buys Video Compression FirmIrvine-based Broadcom (www.broadcom.com) last week said it is acquiring Sand Video for $77.5M. Sand Video provides advanced video compression semiconductor technology, used for a broad range of consumer digital video applications. The deal is a combination of mostly stock and some cash.
