RF Micro Buys Silicon Wave
RF Micro Devices announced Friday that it is acquirising San Diego-based Silicon Wave, a provider of bluetooth solutions. Silicon Wave provides highly integrated CMOS radio processors and CMOS radio modem solutions. The deal is worth $10.8M in cash for all outstanding stock of Silicon Wave which RF Micro Devices does not already own.

Salmedix Files for IPO
San Diego-based Salmedix has filed to raised up to $86M in an IPO. Salmedix is developing oncology drugs initially targeted at hematologic cancers, and is pre-revenue and is not expected to generate any revenue from the sale of its lead drug candidate for the foreseeable future. The IPO is being underwritten by SG Cowen, JMP Securities, Pacific Growth Equities, and ThinkEquity Partners.

Active Network Files for IPO
La Jolla-based Active Network has filed for an IPO. The company is looking to raise $46M for its online management services for team sports. Active had a $1.3M loss on $15M in revenue in 2003. The IPO is being underwritten by Jeffries and Company and Wr Hambrecht & Co. Active was funded by Austin Ventures, Canaan Partners, Charles River, Ticketmaster, Enterprise and others.
