MusicMatch Adds Retail Music Sales
San Diego-based Musicmatch is aiming at retail sales of its online music download service through a partnership with Vesta and AT&T Prepaid Web Cents. Users will be able to purchase Musicmatch Music Download Cards through AT&T's retail relationships, and instantly download music from Musicmatch's online digital music store.

i2 Receives Equity Injections
San Diego-based i2 Technologies reports that it has received equity injections from Q investments and CEO Sanjiv Sidhu. Q has committed $100M and Sidhu $20M to bolster the company's cash position. i2 has been struggling recently and has been showing serious revenue declines, restatements, and an investigation by the SEC for accounting violations.

RIAA Back On Offensive
The Recording Industry Association of America is back on the offensive, and has filed another round of lawsuits targeting file swappers. The group has filed another 477 suits, mostly targeted at students who are swapping files using university networks. The group said in a statement that it was filing the suits in part to remind people that file swapping activity is illegal. The lawsuits cover users in 14 US universities.

Fuel Cell Technology Gets Goverment Injection
The US Department of Energy announced yesterday an injection of $350M into the area of fuel cell research, in support of President Bush's Hydrogen Fuel Initiative. Local organizations included in research projects receiving funding include UCLA, Caltech, UC Santa Barbara, HRL Laboratories, Toyota, Southern California Edison, SAIC, the South Coast Air Quality Management District, and the Port of Los Angeles. Google Expected To File For IPO
The industry is anxiously anticipating that Google will file for an IPO sometime today, as it comes up against a filing deadline to either file financial information or go public.
