U-Nav Raises $5M
Irvine-based U-Nav said Friday that it has raised $5M from Nordic Venture Partners, iSherpa Capital, Shelter Capital, and UNI-LLC. Strategic investor Trimble Navigation also participated in the Series D financing. u-Nav is developing GPS chipsets and software aimed at the mobile location based services market. The company also said that u-Nav and Trimble expect to begin sampling solutions based on its technology in the fourth quarter of this year.

Digital Mind Signs MP3 Player Agreement
Carlsbad-based Digital Mind ( announced that it will manufacture, distribute, and support the DMC 800 portable music player in the United States in an agreement with MultiChannel Labs, an MP3 maker in Korea. The MP3 device supports both PC and Mac computers, and provides 20GB of storage. Digital Mind also develops 40GB and 80GB portable audio players, all of which are manufactured in the US by Digital Mind.

ePolicy Solutions Appoints VP
Torrance-based ePolicy Solutions ( announced that it has added Bill Dochterman as VP of Product Management. Dochterman was most recently at Fair Isaac Corp (HNC Software) where he was VP of Business Operation and VP of Business Development and Strategic Relations. ePolicy is developing solutions for automating property and casualty insurance.
