DivX On Demand In Italy
San Diego-based DivXNetworks (www.divxnetworks.com) said today that it has signed an agreement with Wind, an Italian telecommunications company, to launch a secure, DivX-powered video-on-demand service on the popular Libero.it Italian web portal. Wind will offer full-length, DivX encoded video content to subscribers to the Libero web portal. Stamps.com, eBay Settle Litigation
Santa Monica-based Stamps.com and eBay announced that the two companies have resolved litigation between the two companies. Stamps.com had sued PayPal and eBay for breach of contract in June of 2003. Stamps.com had claimed that eBay had delayed deployment of a system which was designed to allow users to use PayPal to calculate and print postage, which Stamps.com had already invested significant amounts of development time and dollars into. eBay will pay Stamps.com an undisclosed amount to settle (More info...)

Google Starts Picasa Promotion
Just a few days after the acquisition of Pasadena-based Picasa by Google, the search engine giant has begun promoting the download of the Picasa software on its home page. A link from the Google home page now asks users to download Picasa to organize and find pictures on their PCs, and allows the installation of the Picasa 1.6 software. Google announced the acquisition of Picasa on Tuesday, however terms were not disclosed.

SkinMedica Raises $40M
Carlsbad-based SkinMedica announced that it has raised $40M in an extension of its Series D financing. Funding came from Perseus-Soros BioPharmaceutical Fund, HealthCare ventures, Montreux Equity Partners, St. Paul Venture Capital, Apax Partners, and Domain Associates. SkinMedica is developing prescription products and cosmeceuticals for the dermatology field.
