ORYXE Appoints Chairman and CEO
Irvine-based ORYXE Energy International announced that Walter Schindler has been named as the company's Chairman and CEO. Schindler is the Founder and Managing Partner of Odyssey Venture Partners, the primary investor in Oryxe. Schindler will continue in his venture role. Prior to Odyssey, Schindler was a managing partner at Gibson Dunn & Crutcher. Oryxe Energy is developing biochemical fuel additives to enable fuels to burn cleaner, reducing emissions.

Metapa Lands E Networks
Sherman Oaks-based Metapa and Sun Microsystems announced today that E! Networks, a producer and distributor of entertainment news, has tapped the two companies for a integrated data warehousing solution. E! will use Metapa's Cluser DataBase running on the Solaris operating system to deploy their business intelligence infrastructure, which is used for optimizing content programming at E!. Napster Rolls Out To U.S. Military
Los Angeles-based Napster, the division of Roxio that is marketing online digital music, announced that it is in an agreement with the Army and Air Force Exchange Services (AAFES) to distribute Napster's music services throughout the armed forces. Napster's catalog of music will be made available through the Exchange's online store for active, reserve, and retired military personnel. Digital Evolution Raises $15M C
Santa Monica-based Digital Evolution has raised an additional $15M in capital in a Series C financing. The funding came from Redpoint Ventures, Mellon Ventures, Paladin Capital Group, and Palisades Ventures. Digital Evolution is developing software solutions for Web Services management.
