iRise Appoints VP
El Segundo-based iRise (www.irise.com) said today that it has appointed Sherrick Murdoff as VP Business Development. Murdoff joins from Elance, and also has prior experience at Cohera, Sun Microsystems, Net Dynamics, and Price Waterhouse. Murdoff will lead the company's global strategic alliance strategy. iRise develops application simulation software used for prototyping and developing web applications.

CaminoSoft Enhances ILM Software
Westlake Village-based CaminoSoft (www.caminosoft.com) has enhanced its Information Lifecycle Management (ILM) software for Windows and Novell Netware. The company said that it now supports Microsoft SQL Server, better profiling of files to be managed, better memory usage for application compatibility, and support for a wider range of tape drives. The company's software moves files depending on usage from primary to secondary storage.

I/O Magic Supports Double Layer DVDs
Irvine-based I/OMagic is supporting the new Double Layer DVD format with its new internal, 16X DVD R/W drives scheduled to ship next month. The company said taht its new drive will write at 16X speeds using DVD-R media and 2.4X speeds with DVD+R double layer media. It also comes bundled with DVD/CD burning software for Windows XP, 2000, Me, and 98SE operating systems. The new DVD double layer format supports up to 8.5GB on a disk.

SMC Ships Broadband Routers
Irvine-bsaed SMC Networks (www.smc.com) said today that it is shipping two new additions to its line of secure broadband routers. The company's Barricade VPN 4-Port Broadband Router and the Barricade VPN 8-port Broadband Router are targeted at telecommuters and home users, and support creating secure Virtual Private Networking tunnels over the Internet.
