SimpleTech Ships Solid State DrivesSanta Ana-based SimpleTech (www.simpletech.com) announced today that it is now shipping solid state drives (SSDs). The company's new Zeus solid state disks range in capacity from 2 to 128 gigabytes, fit into 2.5 and 3.5 inch form factors, and are 9.5mm thick. The disks look like traditional ATA disk drives, but provide much greater performance. SimpleTech develops flash memory, DRAM, and other memory products.

Solarflare Announces 10Gbps Over Copper CMOSIrvine-based Solarflare Communications (www.solarflare.com) announced that it has created a complementary metal-oxide semiconductor (CMOS) chip providing 10 Gbps operation Ethernet over Cat 5e, 6, 6e, and 7 copper cable. The company's new chip makes it possible to run higher Gigabit Ethernet speeds over copper, instead of the usual, more expensive optical fiber. The company had previously demonstrated its transceiver technology, but until now hadn't offered an IC with integrated functionality.
