PivX Appoints Rangan To Board
Newport Beach-based PivX Solutions (www.pivx.com) has appointed Ashwin Rangan, CIO and Senior Vice President of Conexant Systems, to its board. PivX is a provider of host-based intrusion prevention software for the Windows enterprise security market. Rangan is involved with a number of startups in Southern California, and is on the executive committee of the AeA Orange County Chapter and the TiE (The Indus Entrepreneurs) SoCal President.

WebSideStory Launches New Web Services
San Diego-based WebSideStory (www.websidestory.com) said that it has launched a new version of its HBX service which adds the ability to segment and market to online users. The HBX V2 service adds a module for segmenting users to a web site, such as creating specific pages targeted at users who looked at a certain product but did not purchase it. DivXNetworks, ADS Tech Partner On USB Video Capture
San Diego-based DivXNetworks and Cerritos-based ADS Tech have joined in a licensing partnership to provide DivX support in the new ADS Tech Instant VideoMPX USB 2.0 video capture device. ADS will use DivX technology in its new video capture device for Windows XP. The ADS Tech product allows for uncompressed capture of video streams, and conversion to DivX in the bundled video editing software. San Diego-based Streamload (www.streamload.com) said yesterday that it is offering an upgraded version of its digital media storage services. Streamload has enhanced its services to optimize and streamline large file transfers, improved user navigation and user interfaces, and the ability to easily convert files between media formats. Streamload provides a service for creating a personal online library of digital files and accessing media content from any Internet-connected computer.

Paulsson Geophysical Raises Funding For Oil Services
Brea-based Paulsson Geophysical Services said that it has raised a round of venture funding from Shell Technology Ventures, for its services for the oil and gas industry. Paulsson provides high resolution images of oil reservoirs using proprietary borehole seismic instruments. Amount of the investment was not disclosed.

Linksys, Vonage In Equipment Deal
Irvine-based Linksys (www.linksys.com) announced that it is in a deal with Voice over IP (VoIP) provider Vonage (www.vonage.com) to provide equipment for home and small businesses. Vonage is offering Linksys phone adapters and broadband routers as part of its service now, and will add Wireless-G support in the near future.
