Green Hills Adds Apple Chief Software Officer To Board
Santa Barbara-based Green Hills Software (www.ghs.com) announced today that it has added Avadis "Avie" Tevanian to its board of director. Tevanian is SVP and Chief Software Officer of Apple Computer, where he sets Apple's software technology direction. Tevanian also has prior experience at NeXT. Green Hills Software develops tools for embedded software development and real-time operating systems, used by companies for developing hardware devices.

Oak Grove Partners With Human Resources Software Provider
Calabasas-based Oak Grove Systems (www.oakgrovesystems.com) and San Francisco-based Tesseract said today that the two companies have partnered to integrate a workflow-enabled human resource management system. Sony Upgrades Digital Software
Los Angeles-based Sony Pictures Digital Networks announced that it has upgraded its Movie Studio, Music Studio, and Sound Forge Audio Studio software, which the division markets to consumers. The company said that it has incorporated technology from its professional desktop line of media editing applications into its consumer products, allowing consumers access to a wealth of new features, while maintaining user ease of use.

Qualcomm Signs Amoi Mobile
San Diego-based Qualcomm (www.qualcomm.com) has signed on Chinese handset manufacturer Amoi Mobile, which develops cell phone products. The two have agreed on a worldwide commercial CDMA subscriber agreement, where Qualcomm will receive a multi-million dollar royalty and Amoi Mobile will be allowed to develop, manufacture, and distribute cdmaOne and CDMA2000-based products. Amoi develops high end mobile phones for the Chinese market.

Lindows No More, Long Live Linspire
San Diego-based Linspire (www.linspire.com) announced that it has officially ceased using the name Lindows in all of its marketing collateral, web site, and retail packaging. The name change is the direct result of a worldwide settlement between the company and Microsoft in a trademark infringement case, where the two agreed to settle all claims in exchange for cash and license to certain Microsoft Windows components. linspire said that it has fully transitioned all of its materials and web site (More info...)

Blu-ray Assocation Adds Microsoft, MPEG-4 Support
The Blu-ray Disc Association announced today that it has added a new video codec MPEG-4 AVC High Profile and Microsoft VC-1 support to its specification for next generation optical discs. The new MPEG-4 AVC specification for compressing/decompressing video content provides support for high-definition media; while Microsoft's VC-1 is the format used by Microsoft's Windows Media.
