Camarillo-based Advanced Photonix announced that Paul D. Ludwig has been added to the company's Board of Directors. Ludwig is President of the company. Advanced Photonix designs and manufactures silicon photodetectors, optoelectronic assemblies, and photodiodes.

Versora Releases SUSE White Papers
Santa Barbara-based Versora (www.versora.com) said that it has released a set of white papers on its Windows to Linux migration that the company co-authored with Novell. The white papers cover the migration of Microsoft tools to open source tools running on Novell's SUSE LINUX platform. Figure 8 Releases Zigbee Software Stack
San Diego-based Figure 8 Wireless (www.f8w.com) announced yesterday that it is now shipping its software and tools for creating Zigbee-based wireless network devices. The company's Z-Stack and Z-Tools software makes it easier for manufacturers of devices to add wireless network connectivity to their industrial control, building, and other systems. The tools support Freescale, Chipcon, and Atmel 802.15.4 RF Chip platforms.

Broadcom Finds European Channel For SATA RAID Controllers
Irvine-based Broadcom (www.broadcom.com) said today that its RAIDCore Serial ATA-based RAID controllers are now available in Europe through Ideal Hardware. Ideal will offer Broadcom's products in the UK and throughout Europe. Ideal services storage and security needs of small to medium businesses, enterprise IT, and other customers. Brilliant Digital, Altnet Sue RIAA
Woodland Hills-based Brilliant Digital Entertainment and its subsidiary Altnet announced yesterday that they have filed a patent infringement suit against the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). The company said that the group is in breach of a patent it holds for unique naming of files across a peer-to-peer network. The suit also names Overpeer, Loudeye, and Media Sentry as defendants.
