ViewSonic Expands Management Team
Walnut-based ViewSonic (www.viewsonic.com) announced that it has named Matt Milne as SVP of Business Development and Strategy. Milne will direct the company's corporate strategy and business development efforts. Milne was most recently SVP and GM of consumer solutions at Gateway. Milne had previously founded Cameo Technologies and served at Western Digital.

Waterford Sets Up Shop In Irvine
Waterford Technologies, a provider of email management solutions, announced that it has opened a new U.S. Headquarters in Irvine. Waterford provides email software which is targeted at corporate compliance in such industries as banking, investment, and healthcare. The company also said that it expected to be hiring sales, marketing, and customer support staff for its US offices. The company's offices were previously located in Denver, and is headquartered in Waterford, Ireland.

Capstone Goes To Tokyo
Chatsworth-based Capstone Turbine announced that it is creating a Japanese subsidiary in Tokyo. The new subsidiary is its first foreign office, and will include support functions for its Japanese customers. The company said that Japan has the largest installed base for its products outside of the United States. The new center will house both sales and service activities.

Genomatica Gets SBIR Grant
San Diego-based Genomatica said today that it has received a Phase II Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Grant from the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE). The two year award, for $750,000, will be used to upgrade the company's software for genomics research. Genomatica's software is an application enables the development of predictive computer models of organisms, which the company is targeting for rapid biological discovery.

Accruent Licenses Real Estate Software
Santa Monica-based Accruent announced that it has acquired rights to license and resell real estate contract software from Lucernex Technologies. Terms were not disclosed. Lucernex software provides advanced real estate process and asset management applications. Accruent will use the software to complement its existing real estate life cycle management solution and contract management offerings. WebSideStory Prices IPO
San Diego-based WebSideStory priced its IPO yesterday at $8.50 per share, and is expected to start trading soon on the Nasdaq under the symbol WSSI. WebSideStory provides web analytics software used by online retailers and others to analyze their web site traffic and design better web sites. The company originally filed for its IPO in May, and had most recently lowered its offering price in August. WebSideStory is backed by Summit Partners and TA Partners.
