Clarification: Idealab Yes, Insider Pages No
In a story yesterday we reported that Idealab was set to launch a new venture yesterday, Insider Pages. According to Stuart Macfarlane, CEO of Insider Pages, the company is actually remaining in beta mode with additional market in the first half of next year. Bill Gross is launching another Idealab search engine business, Snap, which we will report on when information is available.

ZyXEL Ships VoIP Adapters
Anaheim-based ZyXEL has launched a new line of voice-over-IP adapters. According to the company, its Prestige Series Voice over IP (VoIP) analog telephone adapters is targeted at SOHO, SMB, and home VoIP applications. The devices allow any analog telephone to be plugged into a broadband connection, and is being marketed to IT service providers. The company said that its product supports standard Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) operation.

Ulead Bundles With DV411
Torrance-based Ulead Software (www.ulead.com) said that its digital video products will be bundled with DV411's HDV digital video workstations. Ulead's StudioQuartet professional editing, DVD authoring, 3D animation, and graphic creation software will be bundled with the workstations and JVC's JY-HD10U High Definition HDV Camcorder. The high definition video is aimed at HDTV and other high definition video applications.

BakBone Certifes With Sun
San Diego-based BakBone announced that the company's network attached storage (NAS) backup software, NetVault, has been certified by Sun Microsystems with use with the Sun StorEdge 5210 NAS device. Sun has tested BakBone's software as part of the Sun iForce Partner Program, and verified that BakBone's software works properly in a Sun environment. Broadcom, Agere Settle Suit
Irvine-based Broadcom (www.broadcom.com) said yesterday that it has settled all of the company's outstanding litigation with Agere Systems. The two companies had been locked in a patent lawsuit battle, where each claimed patent infringement relating to high speed communications, wireless, disk drive technology, and other technologies. Broadcom said that the two companies have agreed to settle all outstanding claims, and will cross license patents with Agere. The company also said that it would c (More info...)

Blu-ray Disc Association Launches
In an echo of the VHS/Betamax battles, the Blu-ray Disc Association announced yesterday that it has expanded its list of members and officially launched the organization, which is developing standards for next generation disc formats for video. The group has added Twentieth Century Fox to its board, which includes Dell, Hitachi, Hewlett Packard, Sharp, Sony, Pioneer, Philips, TDK, and others. The association said that it now has 73 members.
