Rockwell Scientific Ships DAC
Thousand Oaks-based Rockwell Scientific Company announced a new line of semiconductors for communication products and airborne radar systems. The company's RDA012RZ and RDA112RZ 12-bit return-to-zero (RZ) digital-to-analog converters (DAC) are available in conjunction with an evaluation board for manufacturers. The company said that the digital analog converters have already been designed into products and radar systems.

CallWave Adds Board Members
Santa Barbara-based CallWave announced this morning that it has appointed Jeffrey Henley and Michael Noling to its board of directors. Henley is Chairman of database giant Oracle, and served as Oracle's Chief Financial Officer and EVP. Noling was the President and CEO of Wavefront Technologies, and served on the boards of Transoft Networks, Centric Software, and Motion Engineering. NSF Funds Material Sciences Program at UCSB
The University of California, Santa Barbara, is reporting that the National Science Foundation has selected the university to host a new center for materials research. Venture Capital Investments in Q3 Slow
A recent report shows that the U.S. venture capital market showed its usual slowing last quarter, despite another report this week that showed a healthy increase in fundraising by venture firms. The Ernst & Young and VentureOne Quarterly Venture Capital Report, released last week, showed that nationally $4.56B was invested in 467 deals. Chimerix Finds $11M
La Jolla-based Chimerix announced that it has raised a Series C round of funding for its biotechnology for the development of orally available medicines. The funding was led by Frazier Healthcare Ventures, with participation from existing investors Sanderling Ventures and Asset Management Company. Catalytic Solutions Raises $10M
Oxnard-based Catalytic Solutions has raised a $10M mezzanine financing round. The funding came from The SAM Group, and Presidio Venture Partners (Sumitomo). Catalytic Solutions is developing advanced catalytic coatings designed to improve the efficiency of automobiles.
