5G Wireless Adds Buy.com Co-Founder
Marina Del Rey-based 5G Wireless announced that it has appointed Murray Williams to its board of directors. Williams was a co-founder of Buy.com, where he was responsible for finance, legal, business development, and HR. Williams will also chair the company's audit committee. 5G Wireless is developing products for campus wireless connectivity, for both point ot point as well as wireless access points.

Breach Adds VP
Carlsbad-based Breach Security announced that it has appointed Kevin Overcash as VP of Product Management. Overcash was most recently VP of Product Management for SPI Dynamics, and was a product manager for Internet Security Systems. Breach develops appliances for protecting applications, databases, and web application from attack by hackers. Breach is funded by Enterprise Partners, Evergreen Venture Partners, and Pitango Venture Capital.

Miramar Adds EIR
Corona Del Mar-based Miramar Venture Partners said this morning that it has added Armond Hairapetian, Ph.D. to its firm. Hairapetian will act as Entrepreneur in Residence for Miramar, with a focus on forming new companies around new technology. Hairapetian was most recently General Manager of Broadcom's optical products division. He was also co-founder and CEO of NewPort Communications, which was sold to Broadcom in August 2000 for $1.2B.

IOGEAR Ships Slim Hard Drive
Irvine-based IOGEAR announced that it has shipped a 1.8" USB 2.0 external hard drive. The company's ION hard drives are targeted at consumers looking to store documents, pictures, music and video. The devices support USB 2.0 and FireWire, include the Dantz retrospect backup software as a bundle, and support up to 40GB of storage. The company said that the small size makes the new drives ideal for travelers.

Qualcomm Completes GPS Testing for WCDMA
San Diego-based Qualcomm announced that it has completed testing of its GPS-enabled gpsOne location technology on WCDMA (UMTS), GSM, and GPRS networks. The testing completion validates that the company's technology for wireless location-based services works with major infrastructure vendors, including Alcatel, NEC, Nortel, and Spirent. Reunion.com Acquires GoodContacts
Los Angeles-based Reunion.com said today that it has acquired GoodContacts Research Ltd., a provider of technology for automatically updating contact information within a contact database. Terms were not disclosed. Reunion.com operates a web site which helps people find, reconnect, and stay in touch with friends, classmates, and others. Reunion.com is headed by Jeffrey Tinsley, former CEO of GreatDomains.com.

Paciolan Raises Strategic Round
Irvine-based Paciolan has raised a round of strategic funding for its in-house ticketing solutions from Comcast-Spectacor, a sports and entertianment conglomerate. The funding came in conjunction with a deal which calls for Paciolan to provide the technology platform for Comcast-Spectacor's ticket management business.
