Merisel Shuffles CEO
El Segundo-based Merisel announced that Donald Uzzi has been named as its new President and CEO, after current CEO Timothy N. Jenson resigned after a finding by the company's Audit Company to investigate the sale of Merisel's software licensing business. The company said that the investigation is into Mr. Jensen's relationship with D&H Services LLC, the buyer of that business. DTS Adds VP
Agoura Hills-based Digital Theater Systems said this morning that it has appointed Don Bird as SVP of its Cinema division. Bird was previously VP Marketing of DTS. Bird's new focus will be on the digital cinema space for the company. DTS provides audio systems heavily used by both consumer electronics and movie theaters.

JAMDAT Releases Game Based On Children's Book
Los Angeles-based JAMDAT Mobile has released a new mobile game based on the children's book, "Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events". The new wireless game will be available on a number of carriers, and is being released in conjuntion with a feasture film. The children's book is being released as a feature film in December from Paramount Pictures, Dreamworks, and Nick Movies, and includes Jim Carrey, Meryl Streep, and Jude Law. MailersClub.com Makes Holiday Push
Los Angeles-based MailersClub.com has added a new set of tools focused on holiday cards and mailers. The Internet-based printing and mailng service said that the company's new on-line store now offers over 650,000 high quality professional stock images for postcards, greeting cards, flyers, and brochures. MailersClub.com provides low cost web-accessible printing and mailing services for businesses and organizations.

Oluma Finds $1M
Carlsbad-based Oluma said last week that it has raised $1M in a new round of funding from RWE Venture Capital GmbH. Oluma develops fiber optic pressure and temperature sensors, and oil and gas production and industrial monitoring sensors. Foundation Capital, Infinity Capital, and Convergence Partners also participated in the deal.

Vendare Group Receives Funding
Sherman Oaks-based Vendare Group announced that the company has received late-stage funding from Insight Venture Partners. Amont of funding was not disclosed. The online media and marketing company develops an array of web sites and Internet brands, including Uproar.com, and recently acquired New.net. The company also said that Deven Parekh of Insight Venture Partners joined the board of directors. The Vendare Group is backed by Idealab.

QLogic, McDATA Partner On Embedded Switches
Aliso Viejo-based QLogic and Fibre Channel switch maker McDATA said this morning that the two rivals would co-develop and embedded Fibre Channel switch for blade servers. The multi-year alliance calls for a server-embedded switch blade which is McDATA compatible, to extend McDATA's switching line. The new line of switches will be based on QLogic switch hardware and firmware, with the addition of interoperability with McDATA switch fabrics. Movielink Enhances Download Quality
Santa Monica-based video-on-demand company Movielink announced this morning that it has expanded its offerings of Enhanced Quality movie programming. The broadband download service said that the higher quality movies are encoded at a higher bit rate, and provide superior video and audio quality. According to the company, more than 25% of the rentals during a recent test period were of the enhanced quality, and included titles such as Close Encounters of the Third Kind, Fifth Element, Ghostbuster (More info...)
