j2 Increases Asian Presence
Los Angeles-based j2 Global Communications has announced that the company has expanded its reach in Singapore and the Philippines, adding local telephone numbers in those countries. The expansion adds to the company's existing Asian and Pacific Rim presence. The company's expanded network covers Singapore and Metro Manila. j2 said that it has local numbers in 1400 cities in 22 countries.

Citrix Upgrades Online Meeting Service
Santa Barbara-based Citrix Online has upgraded its online meeting service, GoToMeeting. The company's new Citrix GoToMeeting 1.1 solution now accomodates up to 200 online meeting attendees, and streamlines setup of meetings. Citrix is targeting the sales and online training market with the upgraded solution, which is licensed to companies. The Citrix online meeting service provides encryption, scfreen-sharing technology, and email and instant messaging.

Netgear, Zetera Team On Network Storage
Irvine-based Zetera and NETGEAR have introduced a new network-based storage solution aimed at the home and small office/home office market, based on Zetera's network storage technology. NETGEAR's new products will provide network-based access to home consumers, without adding additional cost, using IDE and IP technology. The companies said that the products will ship in 2Q of this year. Zetera's founders include Bill Frank, former CTO of Western Digital and inventor of IDE.

PhatNoise Inks Deal With Kenwood
Los Angeles-based PhatNoise and consumer car audio company Kenwood said today that the two companies have teamed up to include PhatNoise digital music functionality into Kenwood premium automotive CD receivers. Kenwood will embed PhatNoise mCD embedded software technology into its receivers. PhatNoise provides technology for playback of CDs supporting AAC, WMA, MP3 and lossless audio formats, along with the ability to access and organize music content by artist, albums, or genre. DTS Buys Image Restoration Firm For $11M
Agoura Hills-based Digital Theater Systems (DTS) said this morning that it is acquiring Burbank-based Lowry Digital Images, an digital image restoration and enhancement firm. The company said that the acquisition will help DTS to support its efforts in content creation and delivery in theatrical and consumer markets. DivXNetworks Receives Strategic Investment
San Diego-based DivXNetworks said this morning that it has received a strategic investment from Samsung Ventures America, the US-based venture capital investment arm of Samsung Venture Investment Corp. Amount of the funding was undisclosed. DivXNetworks is developing compression and decompression technology for video. The company's technology is being licensed to consumer electronic devices, including Samsung's DVD players.

DexCom Raises $22.5M Series D
San Diego-based DexCom has raised a Series D funding totaling $22.5M, according to the company. Funding came from Warburg Pincus, and included prior investors Canaan Partners, Federated Kaufmann Fund, Fog City Fund, RWI Group, and St. Paul Venture Capital.
