JAMDAT Buys Gaming Firm
Los Angeles-based JAMDAT Mobile announced that it has purchased Los Angeles-based Downtown Wireless, a developer of wireless entertainment games. Downtown is the developer of the game Downtown Texas Hold 'Em. JAMDAT said that the acquisition would help the company broaden its portfolio of casual games for consumers. Downtown Wireless founded in 2003 and also is the developer of a number of other wireless games.

StorCase Taps Zetera
StoreCase, a developer of storage enclosures, has tapped Irvine-based startup Zetera to provide IP storage solutions using Zetera's IP-based storage technology. StorCase said that it would target small and mid-sized businesses with a new IP-based storage at considerable costs savings over similar SAN and NAS installations. Staccato, Coretronic Collaborate on Wireless USB
Coretronic, a developer of wireless USB products for the projection and display markets, and San Diego-based Staccato said that the two companies will collaborate to use Staccato's UWB technology for Coretronic products. Coretronic, a Taiwanese provider of projection and display products, will use Staccato's wireless USB and ultrawideband silicon to support wireless USB support for its projectors. The staccato technology is a single-chip, CMOS-based solution.

SYS Technologies Buys Engineering Firm For $2.6M
San Diego-based SYS Technologies, an engineering, management, and IT consulting firm, said today that it has acquired San Diego-based Antin Engineering for approximately $2.6M in cash and stock. Antin provides technical support services, training, integration, and more for the Department of Defense, the U.S. Air Force, U.S. Army, NASA, and other government agencies. Iomega Invests In Storage Software Firm
San Diego-based Iomega announced that it has made an investment in ByteTaxi, Inc., the developer of FolderShare Software, and will embed the software in its upcoming data storage products. The undisclosed investment comes as Iomega seeks to enhance its data storage line. Iomega says taht FolderShare will be included with the Iomega Network Hard Drive starting in Q2 of 2005. Blu-ray Opens New Front In DVD Format Wars
The Blu-ray Disc Association has opened a new front in the war over next generation DVD standards, adding two video game publishers to its roster. Electronic Arts and Vivendi Universal Games (VU Games) have joined the Blu-ray Disc Association, as the DVD format gears up for battle with the competing HD-DVD standard.
