Napster Appoints VP
Los Angeles-based Napster said today that it has appointed Andrea G. Devenow as VP of Business Development. Andrea has served at MGM and Movielink, where she managed finance and corporate development. Napster provides an online legal music download service, which recently renamed itself from Roxio and sold off its consumer software division. The company has been going head to head against Apple and other music download services.

eEye Appoints Marketing Exec
Aliso Viejo-based eEye Digital Security announced that it has added Ken Fitzpatrick as Chief Marketing Officer. Fitzpatrick was most recently Chief Marketing Officer at Computer Associates, and has also served at IBM in marketing, sales, and development. eEye is developing security software in the area of vulnerability management, and is backed by Bessemer Venture Partners and Insight Venture Partners.

BAE Systems Receives Defense Contracts
Pomona-based BAE Systems announced yesterday that it has received follow-on contracts totaling $12M for maintaining and upgrading the AN/ALQ-157 Infrared Countermeasure Systems for the U.S. Marine Corp. and Navy. The countermeasure systems, used to protect aircraft from heat-seeking missiles, are producted at the BAE Systems facility in Pomona. Semtech Ships Memory Card Protection Device
Camarillo-based Semtech has announced a new device designed to help protect digital memory cards from static discharge. The company's new EClamp Protection Device provides ESD/RFI/ESD protection for SD Memory cards and other devices, and replaces 28 discrete components. The company is targeting SD Memory Card manufacturers who want to provide durable protection for their circuitry. iRise Raises $15.8M
El Segundo-based iRise has raised a late stage venture round of $15.8M from Morgan Stanley Venture Partners and other private investors. The company, which develops application simulation software used to simulate web and other applications without programming, said that it would use the funds for expanding sales, marketing, business development, and product efforts. Teresis Raises $722K From Angel Investors
Los Angeles-based Teresis Media Management announced that it has raised $722,000 in funding for its digital workflow solutions for film and television. The funding came from the Tech Coast Angels and Pasadena Angels. The company said that it will use the funding to open a new office, hire key staff, and increase its sales and marketing efforts.
