Sophos, Akonix Partner On Virus ProtectionSan Diego-based Akonix and Massachusetts-based Sophos have partnered to provide the Sophos virus protection engine bundled with the Akonix instant messaging gateway. Business.com Gets $6.5MSanta Monica-based Business.com has received $6.5M from Institutional Venture Partners, according to IVP. Business.com provides a search engine targeted at business customers, and recently received a round of funding from Benchmark. Steve Harrick of IVP will join the company's board. According to a report by VentureWire, IVP is buying out Pearson's stake in Business.com, as the publisher looks to get out of the VC investing business.

Solarflare Raises $48MIrvine-based Solarflare said this morning that it has raised $48M in venture funding from Oak Investment Partners and previous investors Foundation Capital, Anthem Venture Partners, Intel Capital, and Miramar Ventures.
