Maps.com Targets Newspapers
Santa Barbara-based Maps.com is launching a new division targeting its mapping products and solutions to newspapers. The new Classified Concepts Division is developing products and services targeted at newspapers, specifically at the real estate and classified ad departments. Streamload Launches Web-based Email Attachment Service
San Diego-based Streamload said today that it is launching xStreamMail, a web-based email system designed for sending and receiving video and photo collections. The company's xStreamMail system is an online, subscription service which allows subscribers to upload any amount of video and photo files for access by friends and family. Vativ Ships Chip For 10G Ethernet Over Copper
San Diego-based Vativ said this morning that it is now sampling a single-chip, CMOS 10-Gigabit Ethernettransceiver for copper cabling. The startup said that its new chip works for transmitting high speed signal over existing CAT5e or CAT6 unshielded twisted pair cable. The company is targeting OEMs and system vendors developing high speed Ethernet switches and servers for the enterprise market. Xdrive Turns Cell Phones Into PCs
Santa Monica-based Xdrive is launching another cell phone application today, with a new service which turns cell phones into mobile PCs. The company, which recently launched a streaming music service for cell phones, is now also offering a way for wireless users to access files, folders, email, and more via the company's file sharing service. Alignent Lands $6M Series A Funding
Irvine-based Alignent Software is expected to announced today that it has raised $6M in Series A funding from Horizon Ventures and Mission Ventures. Alignent, a developer of enterprise strategic product planning software, is planning on using the new funding to accelerate the company's product development and growth.
