Xirrus Launches Channel InitiativeWestlake Village-based Xirrus this morning announced that it has launched its channel partner program to help solution providers sell its Wi-Fi networking equipment. The company has signed up D&H Distributing, a wholesale distributor of technology solutions in the US in conjunction with the launch of the program. The program provides marketing, sales, and technical support resources to distribution partners.

Figure 8 Certifies ZigBee PlatformSan Diego-based Figure 8 Wireless said yesterday that two of its platforms have been certified by the ZigBee Alliance. The company's software and firmware, combined with low power, low data rate RF ICs from ChipCon AS, enable wireless network monitoring for control networks. Microsoft Files Counterfeiting LawsuitsMicrosoft said yesterday that it is suing eight system builders and resellers, including two Southern California companies, for allegedly distributing counterfeit software and software components. The company said that it had sued Abacus Computer of Anaheim and Technology One of Los Angeles, among others, for distributing counterfeit software or unlicensed software. ICANN Finds .JOBS and .TRAVELThe Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) said last week that two new Top-Level Domains (TLDs) have been approved. The new .JOBS and .TRAVEL domain names were approved by the group, at a recent conference in Mar del Plata Argentina. The approval of the new sponsored domains came as part of proposals for new registries from Employ Media and Tralliance Coroporation. Microsoft Settles With Gateway, Takes ChargesMicrosoft yesterdasy said that it has settled with Gateway over anti-trust related claims and will pay $150M in a settlement to Gateway, in addition to a pre-tax charge of $550M to reserve for anti-trust related claims. The software giant said that the settlement will be spread over four years, and that Gateway will release all antitrust claims against Microsoft based on past conduct. WiSpry Raises Venture Round From In-Q-TelIrvine-based WiSpry announced yesterday that it has raised a strategic funding round from In-Q-Tel, the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA)'s venture arm. WiSpry is developing MEMs-based products that enable low-cost, high-performance tunable radio frequency (RF) components and modules for the wireless industry. Amount of the funding was not disclosed. In-Q-Tel invests in companies it believes are developing cutting edge technology that serve the United States national security interests.
