Fastclick Names Pleasants To Board
Santa Barbara-based Fastclick has named Ticketmaster CEO John Pleasants to its board of directors. Pleasants has been President and CEO of Ticketmaster Online-Citysearch, PepsiCo, and Hygiene Industries. The online advertising firm provides ad-delivery technology and services for the internet advetising industry.

Citrix, Covad Partner on Remote Desktop Service
Santa Barbara-based Citrix Online announced Monday that it has entered into a strategic alliance with Covad Communications. Citrix said that Covad will offer its remote desktop access service, enabling small- and medium-sized business customers with the ability to connect anywhere from the Internet to their desktop office computers. The deal follows other broadband and ISP deals with AT&T, Microsoft, Sprint PCS, Verizon, and others.

Experclick Taps Into Contextual Targeting
Santa Barbara-based Experclick is tapping into a new content analysis engine from Crystal Semantics for its advertising network, according to the two companies. Experclick will use Crystal Semantic's technology to better target ads for its banner ad network. Crystal Semantics is a UK-based firm providing technology for automatic analysis of content on a page. Clearstone Raises $200M VC Fund
Santa Monica-based Clearstone Venture Partners announced this morning that it has raised a new, $200M venture capital fund focused on the Internet, information management, wireless communications, enhanced business collaboration, and management of enterprise operations. The venture fund is Clearstone's third, and includes investments from universities, pension funds, and institutional investors, and including CalPERS. Stamps.com PhotoStamps Are Back
Los Angeles-based Stamps.com has scored a win with the U.S. Postal Service, saying this morning that the U.S. Postal Service has approved the company's request to continue selling personalized postage over the Internet. The company's immensely popular PhotoStamps service allows users to upload their own digital photos and convert them into legal U.S. postage. Early Stage Deals Gain, VC Investment Totals Drop
An Ernst & Young/VentureOne report shows that seed stage venture deals increased last quarter, despite an overall funding drop of 16%. The report showed that nationwide, there were 474 deals that raised $4.6B in funds, a drop of 9% in deal flow.
