Aliso Viejo-based eEye Digital Security announced that it has appointed Luke Brown as VP of International Sales. Brown joins from NetIQ, and has also served at Pentasafe Security Technologies, Siemens Communications, GE Capital, and Cable & Wireless.

Mindspeed Gets Siemens Design Win
Newport Beach-based Mindspeed announced yesterday that its VoIP processors are now shipping with Siemens Communications VoIP media gateways. The company's Comcerto voice-over-Internet Protocol (VoIP) processors are being used in the Siemens gateways to bridge between traditional public switch telephone networks and IP-based networks. Autobytel Shuffles Execs
Irvine-based Autobytel said yesterday that it has appointed a new CEO and President, as the company continues to struggle with a financial restatement. Autobytel has appointed Richard Post as CEO and President, as current CEO Jeffrey Schwartz steps down and becomes Vice Chairman of the company. Actimis Pharmaceuticals Gets $6M
San Diego-based Actimis Pharmaceuticals said this morning that it has closed a $6M Series A financing round from Sanderling VEntures and Mitsui & Co. The company is a spinout of Bayer HealthCare AG, and is developing and commercializing small molecule therapeutics for respiratory and inflammatory diseases. The company said that Bayer HealthCare Ag has assigned the rights to five preclinical research programs to Actimis. Yahoo Kicks Off Advertising Promotion
Pasadena-based Yahoo! Search Marketing this morning kicked off a contest aimed at small businesses, to provide 10 million free Yahoo! Ads to a company that Sir Richard Branson of Virgin Group judges best in terms of business plan and the ability to "think big". The newly renamed Yahoo group,formerly the Overture pay-per-click search marketing business, is using the promotion to push its Yahoo search engine advertising business. UCLA Researchers Achieve Fusion
UCLA scientists have published an article in the Journal Nature claiming that they have created a new type of "bench-top" nuclear fusion, a key technology that the scientific community has been struggling to create in a quest for more efficient energy generation.
