Smartsound Teams With Artbeats
Northridge-based SmartSound Software announced last week that it has entereted into a partnership with Artbeats, a provider of royalty-free stock footage to provide its soundtrack creation tools and royalty-free music to Artbeats customers. Artbeats customers who purchase video footage products can receive SmartSound software and music as part of a bundling deal. SmartSound provides audio and music software and products targeted at adding audio content to video productions.

QuestSoft Bolsters Real Estate Compliance Offerings
Lagunga Hills-based QuestSoft has enhanced its real estate compliance software this morning with an alliance with Compliance Technologies, a provider of fair lending analysis and compliance risk management consulting. The software firm said that it has entered into an alliance with CLC to offer comprehensive fair lending analysis reports and services integrated with its HMDA RELIEF software package. Trusonic Signs Restaurant Chain
La Jolla-based Trusonic announced today that the Islands Restaurants chain will use the company's Internet-based In-Store music services for its restaurants. Trusonic provides a service that allows companies to select fully rights-managed music for broadcast to restaurant retail locations. Islands will use the service for its in-store and on-hold music and messaging services. Islands is an operator of 48 restaurant locations throughout the western US. QUALCOMM, NEC Show Location Based Services Interoperability
San Diego-based QUALCOMM and NEC said that the two companies have successfully tested assisted-GPS (A-GPS) in Japan, an emerging standard for providing GPS location-based information via QUALCOMM's 3G WCDMA mobile protocols. The companies said that they tested protocol and newtork connectivity with Secure User Plane for Location (SUPL), a protocol which allows handsets to communicate with a location server. Yub.com Links Into Magazines
Aliso Viejo-based Yub.com, the social networking/e-commerce site owned by Buy.com, said this morning that it has inked a deal with Magazines.com, a marketer of magazine subscriptions. Yub.com members will receive discounted magazine subscription offers of 25% back on purchases of magazine subscriptions through Magazines.com.
