Linspire Adds Accounting and Finance Solutions
San Diego-based Linspire has added a new business accounting and finance package to its desktop Linux distribution. The company said that it has added MyBooks Professional, from InsynQ, to its Linux distribution. The MyBooks Professional software is a fully audited accounting system aimed at small to medium businesses. The software will be available through Linspire's software library program starting at $59. Demarc Scores Customer Win
Carpinteria-based Demarc Security said this week that it has landed a customer at Do It Outdoors, an advertising, marketing, and promotions firm. Do It Outdoors will tap the Demarc Sentarus Workgroup softare to protect its computer networks. Do It provides mobile billboards, street teams, and scooter squads for its customers. Sentarus is a threat management solution that includes intrusion detection, vulnerability management, and service monitoring.

Iomega, Grass Valley Partner
San Diego-based Iomega and Thomson's Grass Valley business announced this week that the two have entered an OEM and joint technology development agreeement. Thomson's Grass Valley professional audio/video products. Thomson Offers Interactive Game Design
Thomson's Burbank-based Technicolor unit said today that it is expanding its services to media and entertainment clients, by launching new interactive game design services for game developers and publishers. Thomson said that its Technicolor unit will provide high end art production, including design, prototyping, cinematics, in-game art assets, and postproduction. CarsDirect Acquires 1-800 Communications
Los Angeles-based CarsDirect has acquired a provider of special finance auto leads to dealers, 1-800 Communications, the company announced this morning. 1-800 Communications matches consumers with a poor credit rating with finance options and auto dealers. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. CarsDirect said that the addition would generate high incremental sales for its dealer network. Walt Disney Internet Buys Minds Eye
North Hollywood-based Walt Disney Internet Group said this morning that it has acquired Minds Eye, a developer of interactive TV games. Terms were not disclosed. Minds Eye is a London-based developer of interactive games for the Sky network, and is the developer of all of Disney's "Disney Channel Play" games on the Sky Network.
