Vativ Ships 10G Over Copper IC
San Diego-based Vativ has released a new, stacking IC with 10Gbps over copper support. The company, which is developing 10GbE-over-Copper Ethernet transceivers, said that the reduced-cost IC provides single chip, full-duplex operation over a CAT5e unshielded twisted-pair (UTP) cable. The new chip is targeted for use in Gigabit Ethernet switches, and can be used to implement a stacked Gigabit Ethernet switch using a ring or mesh architecture using CAT5e and standard RJ45 connectors. iRise Lands Bank Customer
El Segundo-based iRise, a provider of application simulation tools for the web market, said today that it has signed on SunTrust, a commercial bank as a customer for its products. SunTrust is using iRise's web application software to validate its user requirements for customer-facing web applications. iRise provides software which allows customers to simulate application logic and web-based applications before full implementation. iRise is backed by B Cubed Ventures and Morgan Stanley.

X1 Ships Enterprise Desktop Search
Pasadena-based X1 Technologies announced this morning that its new desktop search solution for enterprises is now available. The company's X1 Enterprise Edition builds on the company's existing desktop search tool for Windows. The new software provides access to both user and corporate files, with controls and security for IT management. CallWave Adds Follow Me Home Feature, Prepaid Mobile
Santa Barbara-based CallWave announced this morning that it has added a "follow me home" feature for mobile phone users which allows them to automatically re-route mobile phone calls to a landline when the phone is off our out of a coverage area. The new feature is part of the company's new prepaid phone service which offers a fixed rate, prepaid mobile phone service based on its VoIP technology. Broadcom Settles Shareholder Lawsuit
Irvine-based Broadcom has settled a class action shareholder lawsuit. The company has agreed to pay $150M in cash to holders of its stock or options between July 31, 2000 and Feb. 26, 2001. The lawsuit had been filed by shareholders who claimed the company had engaged in securities fraud related to warrants given to customers of certain products. Broadcom said that its insurers would pay $40M of the settlement, and that the company will take a charge against its earnings in Q2 of 2005.
