Qualcomm Partners With SmartEquip
San Diego-based Qualcomm said this morning that it has entered into a strategic alliance with SmartEquip, a provider of integrated aftermarket parts, service and support systems. Qualcomm and SmartEquip will tie together Qualcomm's GlobalTRACS equipment management solution and SmartEquip's construction equipment lifecycle management applications. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

PriceGrabber, Tom's Hardware Partner
Los Angeles-based PriceGrabber and Westlake Village-based Tom's Hardware Guide this morning said that the two companies have partnered to provide online comparison shopping services. PriceGrabber's comparison shipping tools will be linked into the popular Tom's Hardware Guide online publications. PriceGrabber's online comparison shopping service allows users to compare prices and search for products. Tom's Hardware Guide provides reviews of computer and other technology equipment.

Verizon Rolls Out Wireless Broadband In Southern California
Verizon Wireless said this week that it has rolled out its new wireless broadband service in San Bernardino, Ventura, Los Angeles, Riverside, and San Diego counties. The company's V CAST wireless broadband media service and BroadbandAccess, a wide-area wireless Internet access service is now available across the Southern California region. Apple Rolls Out Podcasting
Apple Computer this morning said that it has rolled out Podcasting support in the latest revision of its iTunes music download service. iTunes 4.9 adds the ability to search for and subscribe to Podcast broadcasts through the popular iTunes store, for download to computer and to Apple's popular iPod music player. Apple said that the new Podcast Directory will feature over 3,000 free audio programs, highlighting content from ABC News, BBC, Disney, and Los Angeles-based NPR station KCRW. Supreme Court Rules Against Grokster
Hollywood scored a major victory yesterday on the news that the Supreme Court has found that file swapping services can be held liable for copyright infringements. The Supreme Court found that MGM Studios could sue Grokster and StreamCast Networks, developer of the Morpheus file swapping software.
