SOA Supports Oracle Fusion
Santa Monica-based SOA Software said this week that it has rolled out support for Oracle's Fusion Middleware, Oracle's latest middleware offering. Oracle's Fusion product combines Oracle's Application Server, Oracle Data Hubs, and other software into a single family of software. SOA's XML-based Web Services software will support the new offering. SOA's software provides security, monitoring, management, and discovery capability to SOA-based software like Oracle Fusion Middleware.

Green Hills Lands Boeing 787 Business
Santa Barbara-based Green Hills Software said that its Integrity embedded operating system has been selected for use in the new Boeing 787 Dreamliner, for use in several flight-critical systems on the aircraft. Green Hills said that its operating system software will be used for flight control, surveillance system, and engine monitoring systems from Honeywell, Rockwell Collins, and Vibro-Meter. Volvo Taps PhatNoise
Los Angeles-based PhatNoise has scored a win with Volvo to provide the PhatNoise digital jukebox system to Volvo Cars. PhatNoise said yesterday that it will offer both the PhatNoise PhatBox Digital Media Player and Apple iPod connectivity as part of dealer-installed options in Volvo cars. Volvo will offer the digital music system as an option for its integrated radio and steering wheel controls. Service-now.com Receives $2.5M
San Diego-based Service-now.com said that it has raised a first round of funding from JMI Equity Fund. The provider of online, web-based IT service and asset management solutions said that the Series A funding will be used to fund its sales and marketing efforts. Service-now.com is providing incident, problem, change and asset management tools online through a subscription service. The five person company is headed by Fred Luddy, former CTO of Peregrine Systems.

Dell, Napster Partner On Music Download Service
Los Angeles-based music download service Napster and personal computer manufacturer Dell are partnering on a legal music download service, aimed at attracting students away from illegal peer to peer file swapping services. The new bundled offering targets universities with a bundled version of Napster's digital music service with Dell's PowerEdge 1855 blade servers.
