Capstone Receives UL Certification
Chatsworth-based Capstone Turbine, a developer of microturbine energy systems, said that its generators have received UL certification for its new 30-kilowatt product for hazardous oil and gas applications. The Underwriter Laboratories certification states that the product meets stringent standards for equipment placed in hazardous environments. The company is targeting its generator for offshore platforms and other hazardous areas for oil customers who need energy generators on site.

StoneFly Upgrades iSCSI Solution
San Diego-based iSCSI storage systems provider StoneFly Networks announced this week that it has added continuous data protection (CDP) capability to its software line. The company's StoneFly Replicator CDP and StoneFly Snapshot provide continous data protection capability for the company's disk-to-disk backup system. Breach Partners With Sourcefire
Carlsbad-based Breach Security has partnered with Sourcefire, the creaters of the Snort intrusion detection tool. The two companies said they will combine Sourcefire's intrusion management and network discovery tools with Breach's SSL decryption appliance. The combination allows companies to better monitor their networks for possible hacking attempts through SSL, by allowing Sourcefire to monitor decrypted SSL traffic for attack analysis. Arkeia Adds Mac OS X Tiger Support
Carlsbad-based backup software provider Arkeia released support for the Mac OS X Tiger operating system this week, expanding the Linux backup software provider's reach into Macintosh environments. The company is also offering backup plug-ins for MySQL and LDAP on the Macintosh. Arkeia said that its backup solution is also compatible with previous Mac OS X versions. Arkeia is a developer of backup and recovery solutions targeted at departments and mid-size businesses.

UCLA, DaimlerChrysler Team On Fuel Cell Technology
The University of California Los Angeles and DaimlerChrysler said yesterday that the car maker has delivered two fuel cell vehicles to UCLA. DaimlerChrysler said that UCLA will use the vehicles to provide students with hands-on experience with fuel cell vehicles. DaimlerChrysler's F-Cell hydrogen vehicles will supply the company and the shcool with operational experience and technical data for improving next generation fuel cell vehicles. Mark Maunder is the CEO and Founder of Fountain Valley-based WorkZoo, a startup that was acquired by Seattle-based job search site Jobster Wednesday. Jason Goldberg is CEO of Jobster. WorkZoo's job search engine allows users to search for jobs across a wide range of online job sites, aggregating those results and allowing users to filter them by distance from a zip code or city.
