DATAllegro Releases Data Warehousing Appliance
Aliso Viejo-based DATAllegro has released a new data warehousing appliance and a query router for its products. The company's new DATAllegro C25 appliance handles up to 25TB of user data and is targeted at customers looking to run queries against corporate databases. The new appliance includes SATA disk drivs and is based on the open source CA Ingres database, and according to the company is priced at $450,000. CinemaNow Upgrades Video Download Store
Marina Del Rey-based online video on demand firm CinemaNow has launched an upgraded video download store. The company said that it has launched a new version of its video on demand service, adding additional support for new video download formats, better searching of its content, a recommendation engine, and better customer service options. Asylum Receives Investment From Agilent
Santa Barbara-based Asylum Research and Agilent Technologies said yesterday that the two companies have signed a joint development agreement. The two companies will collaborate on technologies and applications in the nanotechnology measurement area, with Aglient making an equity investment in Asylum. Asylum is developing microscopes for measuring at the nanometer level, and develops measurement tools for researchers working in nanotechnology. Snap.com Raises $10M
Idealab's newest search engine entrant, Snap.com, has received $10M in venture funding from Mayfield. Existing investor Idealab also participated. Perfect Market Technologies announced that its Snap.com site will use the venture funding for product development initiatives and for operations. News Corp. Buys Intermix For $580M
News Corp. has purchased Intermix Media, the operator of the popular MySpace.com social networking site, in a deal worth $580M. The cash deal calls for News Corporation to pay $12 per common share for Intermix, which runs a network of over 30 Internet web sites, of which MySpace.com is the most notable.
