MaintenanceNet Lands Qualcomm
Carlsbad-based MaintenanceNet said this week that QUALCOMM will be using its web-based application to manage the company's IT maintenance and support contracts. MaintenanceNet provides online management of IT maintenance contracts. The company said that QUALCOMM will integrate the MaintenanceNet solution to centralize, manage, analyze, and report on their IT maintenance contracts. CEYX Adds VP
San Diego-based CEYX Technologies announced this week that it has added Jim Day as VP of Sales and Marketing. Day will be responsible for the firm's marketing initiatives, and was most recently at Pacific DataVision. CEYX is develping software-enabled systems for controlling light emitting devices, and is backed by the Tech Coast Angels, Stone Canyon Venture Partners, and Shepherd Ventures.

Hackers Overrun Personal Web Hosting Sites
San Diego-based software provider Websense is reporting that its researchers are finding that free personal web hosting sites are increasingly being exploited by hackers, who are using the sites to spread viruses, spyware, and malicious code. The company's researchers reported that in the first two weeks of this month, it found over 500 incidents of free web hosting sites that were created to spread keyloggers and other harmful software. Twentieth Century Fox Supports Blu-ray
Twentieth Century Fox said this morning that the studio will support the new, next generation Blu-ray Disc Format by releasing new film, TV programming, and other titles through its Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment unit. The studio said that it will begin releasing content when Blu-ray hardware launches in North America, Japan, and Europe. nStor Acquired By Storage Firm
Carlsbad-based nStor Technologies, a developer of storage arrays and devices, has been acquired by UK-based Xyratex for $21.2M. nStor is a developer of storage arrays and RAID devices used in enterprise data centers.
