Helicomm Demos ZigBee Modules
Carlsbad-based Helicomm said this week that it is now demonstrating ZigBee-Ready module products aimed at the new wireless standard. The company said that it is demonstrating ZigBee-Ready wireless solutions alongside Silicon Laboratories, a developer of high performance mixed signal ICs. Zigbee is a new low power, wireless standard aimed at the factory floor and equipment automation, and is used for monitoring and control applications.

Sequia Communications Adds Marketing VP
San Diego-based Sequoia Communications has added a new Vice President of Marketing and Business Development. The developer of RF semiconductors said that it has hired Charlie Wilcoxson to the company's executive staff, and will head the company's product definition and roadmap, customer acquisition, and strategic partnership efforts. Wilcoxson was most recently at Skyworks, and has held positions at Hughes Electronics.

Continuous Computing Expands Executive Team
San Diego-based Continuous Computing said this week that it has appointed a slew of new executives to the company. The developer of software and components for the Voice over IP and telecom market said that it has appointed Bill Dow as VP of Finance; Joe Harrington as VP of Manufacturing Operations; and James Radley as Principal Architect. Dow joins from EWI Holdings, and served as VP of Finance at MP3.com. Harrington was most recently SVP of Corporate Operations for Copper Mountain Networks. Ra (More info...)

Mindspeed Integrates VoIP Modules
Newport Beach-based Mindspeed announced yesterday that it has developed a complete voice-over-IP gateway module in conjunction with Teleca, an information technology services company. The two companies developed a complete module and software for an undisclosed manufacturer of enterprise-class PBX systems. Teleca is a Swedish developer and integrator of software and hardware solutions. The design utilizes Mindspeed's Comcerto VoIP processor.

Syntricity Revs Semiconductor Yield Management Software
San Diego-based Syntricity said today that it has upgraded its semiconductor enterprise yield management software. The company said that its upgraded dataConductorEP 5.0 software combines data from diverse manufacturing systems and is used by semiconductor manufacturers to manage yields during characterization, yield ramp, and volume production.

Acacia Scores Another Patent License
Newport Beach-based intellectual property firm Acacia Research said this week that it has signed on Matsushita Electric as the latest patent licensee for its interactive television patents. The firm said that Matsushita Electric Industrial has entered into a non-exclusive license covering a portfolio of patents in the interactive television arena. Acacia has been acquiring patents and aggressively pursuing patent litigation against a wide range of firms.
