DefenseWeb Names VP Sales
San Diego-based DefenseWeb has named a new Vice President of Sales. The firm, a developer of software for the Department of Defense, said that it has appointed Owen Williams as VP of Sales. Williams was most recently VP of Business Development at Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC). Williams also has served at Captaris and Wireless Knowledge.

Occam Lands Indiana Telecom Firm
Santa Barbara-based Occam Networks has landed another customer. The company said that Enhanced Telecommunications Corporation, a communications provider in Southeastern Indiana, has selected the company's Ethernet- and IP=based loop carrier equipment. Enhanced Telecommunications will tap Occam's BLC 6000 System for an upgrade to the company's 5000 access lines. Occam's equipment is used to provide voice, video, and IP services for telecommunications providers.

Veoh Launches Beta
San Diego-based Veoh Networks said this week that it has launched a beta of its self-published TV network service. The company said that its beta test allows video content producers to publish full-screen video to the Internet. The company said that unlike P2P networks, the content on its network is approved by editors, and integrates with RSS and other video searching tools like Google Video. Qualcomm Inks BREW Deal In Russia
San Diego-based Qualcomm said this morning that it has inked a deal with a telecommunications operator in Russia to offer its BREW enhanced wireless services in the country. Qualcomm has signed an agreement with Sky Link, a communications provider in Russia, to offer BREW-based ringtone downloads, games, and information applications over CDMA. Qualcomm has been marketing its BREW development environment to wireless operators, manufacturers, and publishers looking to develop wireless application (More info...)
