Tandberg Launches SMB Tape Library
Poway-based Tandberg Data said today that it has launched a new tape library targeted at small and medium businesses. The company's Tandberg S234 tape library provides either 9.6TB or 19.2TB of tape backup in a 4U tape factor. The autoloader provides backup capabilities for small and mid-sized businesses. Tandberg said that the new library provides LTO drives, barcode reading, and SCSI, iSCSI, or Fibre connectivity. The new hardware starts at $10,889.

Qualcomm Provides GPS Enhancements
San Diego-based wireless technology developer Qualcomm said that it has improved the GPS capability of its chips. The company said that the GPS capability in its silicon now fatures improved sensitivity, enhanced indoor accuracy, and simultaneous use of both voice and GPS to enable location-based services and E911 calls. Green Hills Adds UML Support
Santa Barbara-based Green Hills said this morning that it is adding object-oriented UML (Unified Modeling Language) support to its embedded software environment. The company said that it is adding the I-Logix Rhapsody environment with Green Hill's MULTI development environment. I-Logix provides software for requirements specification, UML modeling, and implementation of software. Power-One Files Patent Infringement Suit
Camarillo-based power supply maker Power-One said this morning that it has sued Artesyn Technologies for patent infringement. The firm said that it filed suit in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Texas, Marshall Division. The lawsuit covers two patents Power-One received in 2004, and alleges that Artesyn is infringing on the patents by selling a DC/DC converter for PMBus. RIAA Files More Lawsuits
The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) is continuing its crackdown on illegal file sharing with a new set of lawsuits. The company last week said it filed suit against an additional 757 individuals at 17 different colleges who were using the Internet to illegally distribute copyrighted music. The lawsuits target users of eDonkey, Grokster, Kazaa, and LimeWire, the peer-to-peer file swapping networks.
