Preventsys Ties Into Database Vulnerability Tool
Carlsbad-based Preventsys said this week that it has teamed with NGSSoftware to monitor database vulnerabilities. NGSSoftware provides a software tool that monitors Oracle and SQL Server databases for security vulnerabilities. The deal will include data from NGS into the Preventsys Risk Dashboard. JAMDAT Teams With McDonald's
Los Angeles-based JAMDAT Mobile said yesterday that it will provide pr*zes for McDonald's popular MONOPOLY promotions. The company's entertainment titles will be available at McDonald's as part of the popular promotion, which runs through November 15th. The deal includes two wireless titles and one PC-based title. JAMDAT was included in last year's promotion.

j2 Enhances eFax Service
Los Angeles-based j2 Global Communications said this week that it has enhanced its free eFax service to allow customers to pick matched fax numbers, and free online fax storage. The company said that it will now allow users to search the company's number database for numbers which include matches to a user's existing phone number, making it easier for users to remember their phone numbers. Yahoo Acquires Upcoming.org
Search portal giant Yahoo has acquired Los Angeles-based Upcoming.org, an online event planning/collaboration site. Upcoming.org is a social calendar application which allows users to post free listings about events. The founders of the site said that they will be moving to the Bay area to work at Yahoo headquarters. Finalists Selected for $2M Robotic Race
Twenty three finalists have been selected for Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) Grand Challenge race, scheduled for this Saturday in the Mojave desert. The race, a challenge designed to spur research and development in the area of autonomous vehicles, will pit the robotic vehicles against a rugged desert course that the vehicles must navigate unaided by humans.
