Dynamic Healthcare Systems Appoints CTO
Irvine-based Dynamic Healthcare Systems said that it has appointed a new CTO. Jim Corbett has been named as Chief Technical Officer of the medical software company, joining from Physician WebLink. He also has served at Monarch Healthcare. Dynamic Healthcare is developing software for the health care industry for management of enrollment and billing.

Semtech Targets Mobile Phones
Camarillo-based electronics provider Semtech said this week that it has rolled out a new component for clamshell and game-playing mobile phones. The company said its RClamp0504P protection component is designed for phones that implement the mobile display digital interface (MDDI) standard, and reduces the number of wires required for a handset's hinge. Semtech is a supplier of analog and mixed-signal semiconductors for the communications and electronics markets.

HomeBuilder.com Appoints VP
Westlake Village-based HomeBuilder.com, the official web site of the National Association of Home Builders, said that it has added a VP of Sales to its team. Eric Gramberg has been appointed Vice President of Sales for the site, which is operated by Homestore. Gramberg managed real estate advertising at the Los Angeles Times and Orange County Register. The HomeBuilder.com site provides a directory of new home builders and new home communities.

CalAmp Appoints VP
Oxnard-based CalAmp said that it has appointed Garo Sarkissian to VP of Corporate Development. Sarkissian was most recently Principal and VP of Business Development for Global Technology Investments (GTI), a private equity firm. He has also served at M/A Com and NEC. CalAmp is a developer of components for the wireless communications space.

Kotura Moves Packaging To Asia
Monterey Park-based Kotura, a developer of silicon photonic components, said this week that it has moved its packaging assembly to Asia. The company is tapping Broadex, a contract manufacturer, for its services. Kotura said that the move would allow it to focus its internal resources on new product design. Kotura develops silicon-based, CMOS optical components. The company formed from the merger of Arroyo Optics and Lightcross, and is backed by ARCH Venture Partners, ComVentures, GF Private Equi (More info...)

IR Expands Chinese Manufacturing Facilities
El Segundo-based International Rectifier has opened a new manufacturing facility in Xi'an China. The firm said that the new assembly and test facility will manufacture the company's power management components. The new center is located in Chang'an Technology Park in Xi'an's High Technology Industrial Development Zone. IR's electronic components are used for power supplies and intelligent motion control.

EA, Spielberg Team Up
Electronic Arts and Steven Spielberg said this morning that Spielberg is teaming up with the videogame developer to create three new titles. Spielberg will work directly with EA to develop stories, concepts, designs, and artistic visualization on the new titles, to be published worldwide by EA. The team will be based at EA's development site in Playa Vista in Los Angeles. Spielberg credited the move with the game industry's growth from a niche to a "major creative force in entertainment". Overland Rejects Takeover Offer
San Diego-based tape backup provider Overland Storage said yesterday that it is rejecting a takeover bid from rival Advanced Digital Information Corporation (ADIC). ADIC, the prime competitor to Overland's products, had offered to acquire all of the outstanding stock of Overland for $7.90 per share. Overland said that a special committee of its board of directors and advisor Needham & Co. determined that pursuing an offer on the suggested terms would not be in the best interest of Overland's (More info...)
