DispenseSource Expands Inventory Management Tools
Rancho Santa Margarita-based DispenseSource announced this morning that it has released a new product for dispensing industrial supplies. The company said that its SecureSource inventory management system provides high security, single-item dispensing for high-volume items. The company's solutions provides automated dispensing of items, and connections into web-hosted inventory management software. DispenseSource is backed by Forrest Binkley & Brown, Innocal, Mission Ventures, and Omnicell.

Tanner Targets India
Pasadena-based Tanner EDA said this week that it has signed on an Indian distributor for its electronic design automation tools. Tanner has signed up TechForce India to distribute and support its tools, which are used for analog and mixed-signal integrated circuit design. TechForce India will also provide sales and support for Tanner's product line. Tanner's tools are used by the biomedical, consumer electronics, wireless, optical, power management, and RF industry.

JAMDAT Brings DOOM To Wireless
Los Angeles-based wireless entertainment publishing firm JAMDAT Mobile said this morning that it has teamed with id Software, maker of the immensely popular DOOM entertainment title. JAMDAT is publishing a version of DOOM for mobile phones, DOOM RPG. DOOM is a role playing game (RPG) which is immensely popular on personal computing platforms as an action and combat centered title. JAMDAT is a publisher of wireless entertainment titles.

FTC Clamps Down On Los Angeles File Sharing Service
The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) said yesterday that it is halting the advertising of a Los Angeles-based peer to peer file sharing service site, MP3DownloadCity.com. The FTC said that a U.S. District Court judge has ordered the web site to halt deceptive advertising that claimed that members of the site could trade copyrighted materials without violating the law. The FTC said that it is looking for redress for consumers and that the site notify consumers that they sharing of copyright files m (More info...)

DVD Hacker Joins MP3tunes
Michael Robertson, founder of MP3.com, Linspire, and MP3tunes is reporting on his personal blog that MP3tunes has hired Jon Lech Johansen, the infamous hacker who has been a thorn in Hollywood's side for cracking the encryption scheme on DVDs, Apple iTunes, and Microsoft's Media Player. Robertson said in his blog that he was hiring "DVD Jon" to work on a project called Oboe, which reportedly involves reverse engineering of some technology.
