MySpace.com Throws Anniversary Bash
Los Angeles-based MySpace.com said today that it is throwing a two year celebration and Hurricane Relief Benefit in Dodger Stadium this weekend. The social networking website, which provides a service focused on music and lifestyles, said that the concert will feature performances by Dashboard Confessional, The All-American Rejects, Jimmy Eat World's Jim Adkins, Fort Minor featuring Mike Shinoda of Linkin Park and Criss Angel Mindfreak. SunGard AvantGard Acquires GETPAID
SunGard's Calabasa-based AvantGard business unit announced this morning that it has acquired New Jersey-based GETPAID Corporation. Financial terms were not disclosed. SunGard said that GETPAID's software will become part of its AvantGard enterprise treasury solution suite, used to automate financial transcations. the software provides everything from customer order to cash management. SK-EarthLink Changes Name To Helio
Los Angeles-based SK-EarthLink has changed its name to Helio. The joint venture between SK Telecom and EarthLink said that its new mobile brand will focus on young, tech-savvy consumers. The company said that it would provide innvation directly from the most advanced wireless market in the world. Helio is headed by EarthLink founder Sky Dayton, and is backed by $440M from the two founding companies. DivX Raises $17M
San Diego-based DivX said today that it has raised $17M from Insight Venture Partners. DivX is developing a highly compressible video media format that it is marketing to manufacturers of DVD players and video software. DivX said that Jerry Murdock of Insight will join the company's board of directors. DivX said that it plans to expand its global sales and business operations into emerging markets in the coming year. Insight was the sole investor in the venture round, according to the company.

Yahoo Adds Travel Content
In a further expansion into online services, Yahoo said today that it has added a new online travel guide that allows users to plan and share personalized trip itineraries. The company's new beta of a travel service ties in photos from Flickr, vacation home rentals, and other online services. The service ties into a database of travel information and travel guides from Yahoo, and the Yahoo travel booking options. Google, Academy of Television Arts and Sciences Team On Video
Search engine giant Google and the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences Foundation said this morning that the two are teaming to provide television archive footage in Google Video. The Academy will make its historical American television archive available for free viewing on Google's video searching service. The Academy will place 284 historic films, about 240 viewing hours worth of interviews with actors, writers, producers, and directors in the Google video system.
