Jazz Partners With Xpedion
Newport Beach-based Jazz Semiconductor and Milpitas-based Xpedion Design Systems said that the two companies have entered into a partnership. The two companies will work to deliver a model and simulation environment for next generation RFIC design, combining Jazz Semiconductor's CMOS process technologies and Xpedion's RFIC simulation tools. Nortel, Websense Team On Security
San Diego-based Websense and Nortel said this week that they are collaborating on a web content filtering solution for GSM/UMTS mobile handsets. The two firms have created a URL filtering and security solution that blocks malicious code and filters URLS from security, adult, and other undesirable content. QAD Founders Fund UCSB Computer Science Chair
Santa Barbara-based University of California Santa Barbara is reporting that Karl and Pamela Lopker, founders of software firm QAD, have established an endowment for chair of Computer Science at UCSB. The endowment will support teaching and research activities in computer science, part of the school's College of Engineering. Make It Work Receives $1M Angel Funding
Santa Barbara-based Make It Work reports that the company has raised over $1M in a Series A-1 venture funding from the Tech Coast Angels. Make It Work provides home computer and small business service and support. Make It Work will use the funding to expand its business and to hire, train, and retain its technicians.
