X1 Adds VP Sales
Pasadena-based X1 Technologies announced yesterday that it has added George B. Homes as VP of Sales. Holmes was most recently a management consultant in the publishing and private equity markets. He also served as VP North America for semiconductor firm Agere Systems, and managed the North American sales team and channel strategy. X1 develops enterprise and desktop search software, used to search email and desktop machines for information. The company's software is being used by Yahoo to power Y (More info...)

Deloitte Consulting Partners With iRise
El Segundo-based iRise has inked a deal with Deloitte Consulting, according to the companies. The two have partnered to use the iRise application development software at Deloitte clients. The iRise software is used to help companies simulate web applications and prototype and specify applications. Deloitte Consulting provides clients with technology integration and consulting services.

Novatel Lands Cingular
San Diego-based Novatel Wireless has been selected by Cingular to provide its wireless PC modem cards for a 3G mobile downlink application. Novatel said that Cingular will use its 3G High Speed Downlink Packet Access (HSDPA) cards in a launch across the United States. The network provides 400 to 700 kilobits per second broadband access to wireless customers.

Pharos Rolls Out GPS Receiver
Torrance-based Pharos Science & Applications said today that it has rolled out its latest GPS device. The company's Pharos Traveler GPS 505 provides mapping using GPS technology on a 3.5" color display, running on Windows Mobile. The device delivers navigation instructions, real-time traffic information, and other location-based information. The device is pre-loaded with maps for the top 50 U.S. Metropolitan areas, and also synchronizes with Pocket Outlook.

Homestore, AOL Extend Distribution Agreement
Westlake Village-based Homestore is reporting this morning that it has extended its distribution deal with America Online to provide real estate content to the Internet provider. The deal is a replacement for an existing agreement that expired at the end of this year. Homestore said that the company will continue to provide content to the AOL Real Estate Channel, AOL CityGuide services, Netscape, and CompuServe properties. Revver Launches Company With VC Funding
Los Angeles-based Revver announced that the company has launched itself into the online video market with a Series A funding. The company said that it has raised an undisclosed round of funding from Bessemer Venture Partners, Draper Fisher Jurvetson, and Draper Richards. The company's web site combines advertising tracking and keyword tagging of videos to host video content. The company is the latest in a number of online video sites funded in the last few months.

Tenrox Raises $4.6M
Pasadena-based Tenrox has raised $4.6M in venture capital for its operational control and compliance software. The firm said yesterday that it has raised the round of funding from Novacap. The funding will be used to accelerate its growth, invested in its software-as-a-service offerings, open new sales and service offices, and make additional investments in research and development. Tenrox software is used for track budgets and compliance for companies.
