Vativ Ships UTP 10GbE NIC
San Diego-based Gigabit Ethernet-over-copper silicon provider Vativ Technologies said this week that its 10 Gigabit Ethernet network interface card for CAT5e unshielded twisted pair (UTP) cable is now available. The company's technology is available through Dynatem, a manufacturer of PCi and VMEbus modules to allow for high speed 10GbE on PCI-X. Conexant Delivers IPTV Bundle
Newport Beach-based Conexant said Monday that it has teamed with Espial and Tematic to develop a highly integrated platform for IP set-top boxes. The providers have developed a combined hardware and software platform for delivery of IP-based multimedia and digital video over broadband IP networks. The platform includes Conexant's MPEG-4/H.264 coprocessor and host decoder, Espial's IPTV middleware and applications, and Tematic's IPTV software.

Merrill Lynch, IBM Global Services Standardizes On SOA Software
Santa Monica-based SOA Software and IBM Global Services announced that Merrill Lynch has standardized on SOA Software's SOA Software Service Manager to manage its web services. The deal, which goes through SOA Software's services partner IBM Global Services, calls for a standardization of SOA Software through the Merrill Lynch organization. SOA's software provides management of Web services and Service-Oriented Architecture deployment.

MySpace, Interscope Launch Record Label
Los Angeles-based social networking web site MySpace and Interscope Records said today that the two companies have launched a new recording label called MySpace Records. According to the companies, the new label will use the MySpace web site community to discover, sign, and market emerging artists. The companies also said that the new label would use the online service to promote tour dates and allow fans to interact with bands. Homestore Gets $100M From Elevation Partners
Westlake Village-based Homestore has raised $100M from Elevation Partners, a private equity firm. Homestore said that Elevation has agreed to invest the $100M in the form of convertible preferred stock. As part of the deal, Fred Anderson and Roger McNamee of Elevation will join the board. The convertible stock is worth approximately 14 percent of the company's outstanding shares.
