Apani Signs Security Consulting Firm
Brea-based Apani Networks said this week that it has signed on consulting firm Blue Oasis Technology to provide solutions to customers. Blue Oasis will use Apani's EpiForce centralized security management system to deploy network security design, planning, and implementation services for enterprise clients. Apani's software automates security policy enforcement and provides point-to-point encryption of data. Quorum Introduces Quad-Band CMOS Transceiver
San Diego-based Quorum Systems has released a new, ultra low power quad-band CMOS transceivers for the GSM wireless phone market. The developer of semiconductors said that its QS1000 single-chip CMOS quad-band radio frequency (RF) transceiver provides GSM/GPRS and EDGE capability and is designed for very low power operation. The hardware is targeted at handset manufacturers looking for low cost RF capability. Quorum is developing multi-mode radio technology implemented in standard CMOS process.

Qualcomm Taps X1 For Email Search
San Diego-based Qualcomm announced today that it is tapping Pasadena-based X1 Technologies for its latest Eudora 7 email software. The popular Eudora email software upgrade provides very fast, indexed search results, new IMAP support, and S/MIME support for enterprise security. X1's desktop search technology allows Eudora users to search and find email content within Eudora's email software. Interlink to Miss 10Q Deadline
Troubled electronics makers Interlink Electronics said yesterday that it will not be able to meet the filing deadline for its third quarter 10-Q report, as the firm struggles to handle an accounting restatement. The firm said that the company's Audit Committee is examining issues raised by the company's intention to restate its historical financial results. j2 Global Buys UK Messaging Services Provider
Los Angeles-based j2 Global Communications has acquired Puma Unified Communications Limited, a provider of messaging systems in the United Kingdom. j2, a provider of outsourced messaging and communications services such as online FAX and voice mail, said that it acquired the company as a part of its strategy to expand it service throughout Europe. LA Private Equity Firms Buy Enterasys
Leading router, switching, and security hardware provider Enterasys is going private in a $386M deal from two Los Angeles area private equity firms. Andover Massachusetts-based Enterasys Networks said yesterday that it has agreed to be purchased by Los Angeles-based The Gores Group and Santa Monica-based Tennenbaum Capital Partners. Strix Raises $12M
Calabasas-based Strix Systems said yesterday that it has raised $12M in venture funding from new and existing investors. The developer of high performance wireless networking equipment said that the round was led by Crosslink Capital, and included investments from existing backers El Dorado Ventures, Palomar Ventures, UV Partners, and Windward Ventures. AOL Expands Travel Content
America Online today said that it is expanding its content with the addition of travel tips from travel expert Peter Greenberg. Greenberg, a travel editor of NBC's Today Show and Emmy award-winning writer and producer of travel videos will develop online video travel tips for the online portal.
