Business.com Expands Board
Santa Monica-based Business.com, an information web site focused on business information, said that it has named Matt Coffin of LowerMyBills.com and Bill Harris, formerly of PayPal, to its board of directors. The board now includes Chuck Davis of Shopzilla, Sky Dayton of Earthlink, Bill Gurley of Benchmark, Steve Harrick of IVP, and Jake Weinbaum of Business.com on its board. Business.com provides search engine and portal type services catered toward the business community.

Allied Defense Acquires Global Microwave Systems
Virginia-based Allied Defense Group said last week that it has acquired Carlsbad-based Global Microwave Systems in a cash and stock deal. Global Microwave is an engineering and development company focused on developing communications products for the commercial television broadcast and law enforcement surveillance industry. TriZetto Buys CareKey
Newport Beach-based TriZetto Group announced this morning that it has acquired CareKey, a provider of advanced care management software, for $60M in cash and $40M in earnout. The company said that the acquisition would result in a broader, integrated portfolio of IT products for healthcare payers. The two companies have had a strategic relationship since December of 2003, and have already developed a jointly developed product suite called CareAdvance Enterprise. Movelink, 20th Century Fox Agree on Broadband Downloads
Santa Monica-based MovieLink has signed a new deal with 20th Century Fox to distribute 20th Century Fox titles through its online broadband video-on-demand service. MovieLink will add new titles including Robots, Hide And Seek, and other 20th Century Fox titles to its library. MovieLink already offers titles from Walt Disney, MGM, Paramount, Sony, Universal, and Warner Bros. XM Radio, Napster Launch Beta
Los Angeles-based Napster and XM Satellite Radio today announced that the two companies have launched a beta version of an integrated music service combining offerings from the two companies. The new XM+Napster music service provides an online service that allows XM subscribers to download and purchase music heard on XM.
