Motia Hires VPs
Pasadena-based Motia said today that it has hired two additional executives to the firm. Motia has hired Skip Hoover as VP of Sales and Jim Mravca as VP Strategic Marketing. Hoover was most recently VP World Wide Sales at Sirenza Microdevices, and has served at WJ Communications and M/A-Com. Mravca was most recently VP Strategic Marketing at WJ Communications and has also served at Watkkins-Johnson. DispenseSource Hires Professional Services Head
Irvine-based DispenseSource has hired a new EVP of Professional Servieces. The company announced this morning that J.D. Harris has been appointed to the position, where he will oversee customer care, customer service, and professional services and outsourcing. Harris joins from HighJump Software, and has held positions at Vision Technologies and Ernst & Young. eEye Upgrades Security Software
Aliso Viejo-based eEye Digital Security said this morning it has upgraded its security management tools with a new version of its security console. The security software and research firm said its REM 3.0 security management console provides a single point of visibility to view computer vulnerabilities and threats. Kintera Closes Private Placement
San Diego-based Kintera said today that it has closed a private common stock financing for the firm, worth $13.5M. The funding came from undisclosed institutional investors, and included 4.5M shares of common stock at a price of $3.00 per share. Kintera is listed on the NASDAQ as KNTA. The company provides online services for nonprofit organizations, including online giving, community services, and more.

Gemstar-TV Guide Sells SkyMall
Los Angeles-based Gemstar-TV Guide International said today that it has sold its SkyMall business to a group of private equity investors for $52M. Gemstar said that it sold SkyMall to Spire Capital Partners and affiliates in a merger transcation that closed December 1. Inphi Raises $12.0M
Westlake Village-based Inphi, a developer of high speed precision semiconductors, has riased $12.0M, according to a regulatory filing. Inphi's investors include Mayfield, Tallwood Venture Capital, Walden International, and new investor Flextronics. A spokesperson for the company confirmed the funding and regulatory filing Friday, but declined any further comments on the details on the funding. Liberty Media Buys Provide Commerce For $477M
Englewood Colorado-based Liberty Media said this morning that it is acquiring San Diego-based Provide Commerce, the operator of ProFlowers, Cherry Moon Farms, Uptown Prime, and Secret Spoon. Liberty Media agreed to pay $477M in cash for Provide Commerce, in a deal which has been approved by the board of both of the companies.
