Quest Software Upgrades Policy Tool
Aliso Viejo-based Quest Software has released a new version of its Windows policy manager, Quest Group Policy Manager. According to the company, the 2.5 version of its tool improves the notification system, troubleshooting, and management of Unix and Linux environments. Quest's Group Policy Manager is used to manage Microsoft Active Directory software policies. DriveCam Signs Insurance and Risk Management Provider
San Diego-based DriveCam announced today that it has signed on McNeil and Company, a provider of insurance programs and risk management services to offer discounts to Ambulance Services Insurance Program clients using DriveCam. DriveCam's system monitors video and audio of risky driving, and is being used by commercial fleets to reduce the frequency and severity of automobile accidents. ESRI Extends Online Mapping Services
Redland-based ESRI, a provider of GIS tools and software, said this week that it has upgraded its online web services tool. ArcWeb Services 2006 is a web-based, subscription mapping tool and API that allows developers to integrate mapping into any Web-based application. The company has added Simple Object Access Protocol (SOAP) APIs, a REST API for URL-based requests, a toolkit specifically built around Java 2 Platform Micro Edition, custom maps, and mobile location services support. Edmunds.com Adds Video Podcasts
Santa Monica-based Edmunds.com has jumped on the Apple iTunes video bandwagon, announcing this morning that it is now offering free podcasts on Apple's iTunes music store. It is offering 21 of its automotive videos on the iTunes store, including road test reports of different vehicles. Included in the podcasts are advertisements from Nissan for its 350Z automobile. Amp'd Inks Deal with CBS and UPN
Los Angeles-based MVNO Amp'd Mobile has inked a new deal with CBS and UPN to provide content from CBS and UPN programs on its wireless phone service. Amp'd said yesterday that CBS and UPN have agreed to provide multimedia entertainment content to Amp'd for its broadband wireless phone products, including footage from CSI, NUMB3RS, The King of Queens, and the Late Show with David Letterman.
